There are many nifty tools besides photoshop to help create amazing photos that are tangible. One of those tools would be the Graduated Neutral Density which allows the ability to darken an area that would other wise be overblown with light, which comes in handy when you shoot on location. Mine lowers the desired location 2 F stops.
Especially since it would take a lot of light to cover an allotted area to compensate for the background it comes in great hand for photo shoots and general usage as well. Here is what that maama jaama looks likes.

For now I opted for the attachment for the wide angle since I’m still torn about which filter system to get. Probably will go Cokin. These square systems are a lot more adjustable and more useful for very specific lighting in mind.
Now to introduce the shots. PUPPIES! I shot the new addition American pit bull terrier Vegeta and the half pit half lab always happy Gaki. Shot them Portraiture style without action and without much post processing using the newly released 7D, ND Graduated filter, and Tiffen Polarizer attached to the 17-55 2.5 IS. And forgive the extra noise, by mistake I read 1000 ISO as 100 ISO. Geez.

EEK Big head will eat you!!!

Here is a pic from another shoot where ND filter was used in a on-location environment.

As you can see it provided a very deep blue sky while the foreground is still lit, then attacked the puppies with the very powerful and portable 580 EX II to create highlights.
