Out in Vegas nightlife you meet a whole lot of characters with their own styles and attitudes that give this city of lights and drunk nights a personality. DJ’s are in the spotlight and add a lot to this personality, and meanwhile the following DJ doesn’t wear crazy outfits or stick out like a sore thumb his lively and in you’re face attitude stands out, just like his smooth mixing of the dopest house tunes. Your ears will thank you.
To accompany the words, are some visuals. All nightlife photos I’ve taken out and about with Mr Relapse. He just might be out in the scene a little too much. It turns out i had a large selection to choose from. LOL Get some rest ya music fiend.
So Relapse, your a house DJ? How did that start off?
I actually never even planned on being a DJ. One of my best friends was a DJ so I would go hang out with him at work…. and early in the night it was always slow so, out of boredom, he would show me a thing or 2. It was really fun and i’ve always loved music, so the love of DJing grew from there. After a couple months of goofing around, one night he just said “ok… i’ll be back in 30 minutes”! And then it was sink or swim. I was nervous as hell, but I guess i pulled it off.
Who are your influences?
David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Bob Sinclar, Roger Sanchez, IIO. Pretty much anyone with a funky beat and sexy vocals.

What is Vegas nightlife missing?
Holy crap… where do i start on this one…. hahaha. How about
a SOUL!!! Sadly, there is such a big tourist crowd in Vegas clubs now, most of the time you’re stuck playing main stream crap that these kids have heard on MTV and therefore are brain washed into thinking is actually good music!! That’s why I especially love my
Wednesday nights at Cathouse. It’s, for the most part, a local crowd. So i can play some cool stuff that you wouldn’t see on TV or hear in the radio, and they get it…… they get it, and they love it!
How does it feel to break into the Vegas house scene?
I freaking love it. There isn’t a lot of places in Vegas that play house these days. 10 years ago, it was ALL house. But then the clubs went commercial and ruined that. I guess it’s a good thing because now Vegas has the biggest and best clubs in the world, but that had a price… and that price was originality in music. So I feel extremely lucky that i get to play house music in a market that doesn’t make a lot of room for house DJ’s.

Are you planning on taking over the world?
hahaha… my first CD was called “taking over the world”. And on the cover was a picture of a mushroom cloud. Kind of a double meaning there. They say that Poverati brought opera music to the masses with his style that everyone could enjoy, not just fans of the Opera. And I’ve always said that i want to bring house music to the masses. If you do it right, everyone loves it. There’s no bigger compliment to me than when someone comes up to me and says, “I’m not a fan of house music, but i love what you’re playing”. That makes me feel all fuzzy inside. haha
Your always sporting Brazilian gear, whats the deal? Are you Brazilian?
Nope, not Brazilian, but i have a lot of friends from there and they are always telling me that I’m Brazilian on the inside. Which i take as a compliment i guess. I’ve been to Brazil, and to see their spirit, their love of life no matter how much or how little they have. They really are inspiring. They love life, music, dancing….. it’s funny.. I went there, and saw people living in total poverty… and yet, they were happier than most of the people in know in America where we have EVERYTHING. How can you now love a people like that. Ohhh… and the women aren’t bad looking either.
You know, we all hear DJ’s have all the fun, bla bla bla. Does anything fun happen in the booth while djing?
Ohhhhh…. yeah…. Ummm…. well lets see, there’s always the groupies that treat you like your famous. Which i really don’t get, it’s not like i’m on TV or in the movies… i’m just a DJ. But they feel the need to come into the booth and get pretty crazy. At least once a night i have to throw some drunk girl out of the booth for acting stupid. As far as dirty details of what goes on…. hahaa… well, i think those should stay in the booth.

Thanks for the time, got anything else you wanna say to your fans?
I HAVE FANS???? SWEET!!!! hahaha Wait till i tell my mother, she’s going to be so proud!! Ok seriously,
Much love to everyone out there. If you want to keep up with my schedule and come see me play some time…. i have most of my dates listed on my myspace music page.
